Criminal Investigation Progress Report

Doctor Zero: Cumulative data and possible locations

- Names: Norman: (See photo) Vern's new roommate. He seems intimidated by Vern. Plays piccolo in a band. No surname given.
- Agrippa: No new information.
- Schools and colleges: Evidence taken from conversation #7 has reduced the possibilities to 138 boarding schools in the northeastern US. Investigators are searching for boarding schools with the following:
- a water polo team with a member named Rudy
- a goat mascot recently deceased
- an infirmary whose nurse owned a pet armadillo
- a girl named Alice, possibly a Catholic
- a biology lab whose animals are vanishing
- students with suspicious genital and oral eruptions
- a band with a piccolo player named Norm
- Vampire Moon: A survey of police records since 1935 reveals a startling anomaly: a dramatic increase in disappearances and unidentified murder victims around the new moon in January. Many of the victims were reported to be mutilated. In at least two instances there were comments to the effect that victims seemed to be desiccated, as though their bodily fluids had been drained. No explanation for this unusual occurrence can be found.
- Money: Since it is assumed that the money being gathered by Vern is to pay for his transport to the murder site, the amount is being compared with various types of transportation fares. Computer modeling has calculated the odds of each type. The sum of $915.66 has a 46 percent possibility of being two bus fares, a 37 percent possibility of being a taxi fare, a 23 percent possibility of being two airline tickets, a 15 percent possibility of being two train fares, a 7 percent possibility of being some other form of travel. These combinations are being compared to various fares offered in the Northeast United States.
Conclusion: Police authorities expect to contact all 138 schools by Monday 29 January 1996 and expect to break the case by that date.
