Human Sacrifice Today
A report by Andrew Blankley, Ph.D., APEC research sociologist

HYPERTEXT SUMMARY OF REPORT

A wake-up call to the world!
Because of concerns regarding a possible "Vampire Moon" sacrifice cult, APEC has been contracted to perform a study of similar religious organizations. The findings of this study are more than research background; they serve as warning about a serious menace to come.

Human sacrifice is more popular than you think.
Virtually every known religion demands sacrifice, and the sacrifice of a human being is universally regarded as the ultimate gift to a deity. Modern religions use elaborate symbolism and mythology to partake of the traditional blood sacrifice. But research has shown that all forms of blood sacrifice can be dangerous, symbolic or not.

Human sacrifice is on the rise.
Our study has revealed an alarming trend in new religious organizations, orders, and cults: literal human sacrifice. Desperate people are seeking dramatic revelation and simplistic answers to complex social problems. They are attracted to fringe groups who provide the ritualistic irrationality that they crave. In the last ten years, fringe rituals often include the sacrifice of a human being.

Ancient human sacrifice beliefs still survive.
Primitive and isolated pagan religions represent the survival of ancient human sacrifice beliefs. These beliefs are a holdover of one of the earliest known superstitions, the idea that personal sacrifice is a payment exacted by the gods in return for happiness.

Blood rites are still widely practiced!
Traditional and holdover sacrificial belief systems survive for generations, including ancient blood rites well-known in Central and South America.

Beware of the brotherhood of death.
Human sacrifice is a cornerstone of many quasi-religious mystical orders and fraternities. These belief systems use human sacrifice as a means for uniting the group through the bond of blood.

Ancient evils wear modern masks!
In this century new forms of ancient beliefs brought human sacrifice into the cultural mainstream. Nazism, a throwback to ancient traditions, has recently been joined by Aztecism, a Mesoamerican belief in the destiny of Mexico to conquer to world.

Spontaneously occurring death worship.
Of all the forms of belief in human sacrifice, the most chilling is spontaneously occurring death worship. Murder begins to take on mystical significance. Homicide becomes a form of religious expression.

Human sacrifice is a growing social problem.
The proliferation of groups which espouse human sacrifice, together with the expanding number of individuals willing to believe in mystical and magical phenomena, guarantee that the number of human sacrifices occuring in the next few years will increase exponentially.
