It had been six weeks since Leo's miraculous recovery. Sam was happily proceeding with wedding plans -- only a month away -- and even Amy's health had improved. The big task now was to reorganize the house for the reception. Today's project was the office. Sam sifted through desk papers as Amy cleaned out the closet.
"Hey, Mom, what if I find something interesting?" Amy's voice was muffled by boxes and coats. "Like maybe your old loveletters?"
"Forget it, kiddo. They're all electronic."
Amy kept up a running commentary on what she found. "There's a ton of old junk in here! Barbie dolls, used envelopes, a can of brake fluid... hey, what's this?"
She found a notebook. "Must be Leo's. Maybe notes about Nepal!" She starting flipping through pages. "Wow, it's a bunch of weird drawings."
Sam bolted from her desk, grabbing the notebook from her daughter.
"Mom? What's the matter? What's going on?"
These were new pictures. Sam's ears began to roar and her stomach lurched. She leaned against the wall for support.
"Oh my God."
